At the end of a very successful 78th annual convention, the National Renderers Association (NRA) Board of Directors elected Gerald F. (J.J.) Smith Jr. as its chairman for the next two years. He is president of Valley Proteins, Inc., Winchester, VA, and immediate past chairman of the Fats and Proteins Research Foundation. Smith’s father, the late Gerald F. Smith, was elected NRA chairman in 1991.
Voted in as first vice chairman was C. Ross Hamilton, PhD, vice president, Government Affairs and Technology at Darling International, Inc., Irving, TX. Tim Guzek, vice president of procurement for Sanimax Industries, Green Bay, WI, was elected second vice chairman.
NRA President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Cook was re-elected secretary-treasurer. Kevin Golding, Rothsay, Guelph, ON, Canada, became immediate past chairman.
