OIE Upgrades US to “Neglible Risk” for BSE


The United States (US), Israel, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, and Slovenia were all recognized as having a “negligible risk” for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) during the 81st General Session of the World Assembly of Delegates of the World Organisation for Animal Health, or OIE, held in late May in Paris, France. The delegates also recognized Bulgaria and Costa Rica as having “controlled risk” status.
