FDA Issues Guidance for Renderers on Feed Rule

April 30, 2009 | The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a final guidance document, “Small Entities Compliance Guide for Renderers – Substances Prohibited from use in Animal Food or Feed,” to provide guidance on the requirements of the final feed rule published in the Federal Register of April 25, 2008.

The purpose of the guidance document is to help rendering firms comply with the rule that became effective April 27, 2009. The guidance should also help slaughter facilities and farms supplying offal and dead livestock to the renderers understand their obligations under the rule.
